Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after David Ornstein revealed that the Reds are strongly interested in signing Bayern Munich’s David Alaba.

In his piece for The Athletic, Ornstein also reveals that he’s been told Alaba will have a new club on July 1st, just days after his contract expires on June 30th.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be strongly interested in signing the Austria international.

Alaba has just won the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal treble, but his future looks set to be away from the Allianz Arena.

In an earlier report from The Athletic, it was said that Bayern Munich offered the defender a raise, taking his wages to just under £290,000-a-week.

However, Alaba and his camp were after £400,000-a-week for five years.

After such a bold demand was made, Ornstein’s latest update states that the 28-year-old will be leaving for nothing.

He will not be sold in January, nor will he pen fresh terms with the Bavarians.

As a result, he becomes one of the most sought-after free agents in the game, and rightly so.

Alaba is arguably among the best defenders in Europe, and can operate at centre-back, left-back or in midfield.

Let’s see how the Liverpool fans on Twitter reacted to Ornstein’s news…
