Lee Hendrie and Clinton Morrison both have disagreed over Steven Gerrard potentially taking the Newcastle United job on Sky Sports Soccer Special.
Gerrard to Newcastle?
Newcastle have been linked with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, as they search for Steve Bruce’s replacement.
And Morrison thinks that the Magpies would be making a great appointment by bringing the 41-year-old to St. James’ Park.
However, Hendrie has warned Gerrard that he would be an absolute fool to leave Rangers to move to Tyneside.
“I think Steven Gerrard. Rangers fans, don’t shout at me but I think the job he’s done,” Morrison argued.
But Hendrie responded: “No chance. It’s a gamble. He wouldn’t take it.”
“Maybe he wouldn’t take it at this precise moment, but he’s a young manager, he’s improving and he’s done a brilliant job at Rangers.”
“He’d be a fool to take that,” Hendrie fired back.
“Why would you be a fool, it’s a huge football club? If you’re a manager and Newcastle ring you up and you see the project and the plan you’re not going to say no.”
“He’d be stupid to come to a job like that, that’s my view.”

Ruled out
Interestingly Gerrard appeared to rule himself out of taking the Newcastle job last night.
All indications are that he is happy at Rangers, where he continues to impress in his first role in management.
If Gerrard was to accept the Newcastle job he would be taking a big risk.
At Rangers his job is secure and he has made good progress since joining the Ibrox side, after winning the league last season.
However, the appeal of leading Newcastle into the new era is obvious.
If Newcastle get their spending right they could become a major force in the Premier League, and their current vacancy therefore is attracting plenty of interest.
