Hector Bellerin made a worthy promise prior to Project Re-Start, pledging to plant 3,000 trees for every match Arsenal won.
But after losing their first two games against Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion, Bellerin’s pledge became a punch line.
Now after Arsenal got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Southampton, Bellerin can get started on making good on his commitment.
The Spaniard had not forgotten about it either. He sent a message after Arsenal’s win, indicating he was ready to get to work.
Bellerin will hope it is not just the 3,000 trees he ends up planting.
Arsenal have a further seven Premier League games to play, plus a FA Cup quarter-final against Sheffield United this weekend.
The win will go a long way to restoring some confidence after a challenging week, which of course has seen it’s fair share of over reaction.
Perhaps everything around Arsenal will now start to settle down again.
