Hector Bellerin has told Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to ‘enjoy’ after he left Arsenal for Barcelona.
It took a while for all of it to be officially announced, even though Aubameyang turned up at Catalonia way before it all was, but the Gabon star was confirmed as a Barcelona player on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old sent two messages on Instagram regarding his departure and the free transfer to Barcelona, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Bellerin sending the following messages to his now-former teammate.
“FOFTY,” said Maitland-Niles. “All the best my bro.” Bellerin added: “Congratulations, brother. Enjoy.”
The biggest problem with Aubameyang departing the Emirates is the fact that Arsenal didn’t bring in a replacement.
It was clear for well over a month now that Aubameyang’s time in north London was coming to an end after a falling out with Mikel Arteta and being stripped of the captain’s armband.
Those in the Arsenal boardroom had enough time to get another striker in, yet there were a number of outgoings, but zero incomings.
That’s probably the fault of the board, rather than Arteta, although some fans will feel why the Arsenal boss couldn’t have sorted out his relationship with the striker.
At the end of the day, if the club fails to secure Champions League football in May, then that Aubameyang call will hit Areta in the face, if not, then he will be praised for it.
