Heckingbottom coy on Adam Forshaw starting for Leeds against Norwich

Leeds United will face Norwich City at Carrow Road in the Championship this weekend.

Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom has been coy on the chances of Adam Forshaw starting against Norwich City this weekend, according to comments on Leeds Live.

Forshaw has been suffering from a calf injury in recent weeks, but the 26-year-old midfielder came on as a late substitute against Barnsley at Elland Road in the Championship last weekend.

The former Everton midfielder, who cost the Whites £4.5 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Championship rivals Middlesbrough in the January transfer window according to BBC Sport, will be involved in the game against Norwich away from home at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds head coach Heckingbottom, though, has been coy on the prospect of the 26-year-old starting the Championship match.

Heckingbottom told Leeds Live when asked about the prospect of Forshaw starting this weekend: “Again, he’s been another player that’s done well for me while I’ve been here but his injury’s turned into longer than we hoped, so he’s out five or six weeks so he’s had a week under his belt now training.

“By the time the Norwich game comes he’ll have had a another week, plus 20 minutes or so on the pitch so day-by-day he’ll be getting better and better but a big part of Adam’s game is his energy and fitness so we need to make sure when we do put him out there he can perform.”

Leeds returned to winning ways in the Championship last weekend with a 2-1 victory over Barnsley at Elland Road.

There is a sense of optimistic among the Elland Road faithful, and the travelling fans will be confident and positive about the team winning against Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.
