Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have reportedly ‘considered’ the veteran defender this summer.

If rumours are believed, Rangers have competition for Gareth McAuley.
According to The Scottish Sun, Hearts are one of the Scottish Premiership sides challenging Rangers for his signature.
The 38-year-old has been ‘considered’ by the Gers this summer, the report claims.
McAuley is a free agent after being released by West Bromwich Albion following a seven-year stint at The Hawthorns.
The Tynecastle side are in the market for a centre-back after Christophe Berra’s injury, and here is how some fans reacted to the prospect of signing the man who has interested Rangers.

Steven Gerrard could probably do with someone of McAuley’s experience at Ibrox this season, given the big man has 79 caps for Northern Ireland.
The Rangers boss has Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, but it’ll be a very long season – even longer if they reach the group stages of the Europa League – and hedging their bets by signing cover of McAuley’s calibre really wouldn’t be a bad idea.
