Kyle Lafferty’s Rangers career is over after he struggled to impress in the Scottish Premiership under Steven Gerrard.

Kyle Lafferty will be on the move again with his Rangers career fizzling out for the second time. But, according to Craig Levein, a return to Hearts looks very unlikely at this stage, speaking to the Scottish Sun.
A run of just one goal in 24 games for club and country meant that Lafferty was never likely to stick around as Steven Gerrard looked to streamline a Rangers squad high on numbers but perhaps lacking real quality in reserve.
One year after returning to Ibrox for a second spell last summer, setting the Glasgow giants back £500,000, this journeyman striker will be on the move again with Rangers deeming him surplus to requirements.
Now, Lafferty enjoyed the most prolific season of his career in the famous maroon shirt of Hearts in 2017/18, scoring 19 times in all competitions.
But is former Scotland boss Levein interested in bringing the 31-year-old back to Tynecastle?
“No, not for now,” he said. “I believe in the strikers we’ve got and that they’ll score goals. Once we get (Steven) Naismith and (Jamie) Walker up to speed, I’m not worried about that side of things.

“It may sound a bit silly when we missed 35 or 40 chances in three games so far but that will come good.”
The globetrotting Irishman has played for clubs in Switzerland, Turkey, Italy and, erm, Anglia during a rather nomadic career and don’t be surprised to see him broaden his horizons again this summer.
Lafferty has been linked with clubs in Cyprus and Thailand and perhaps a fresh start is exactly what he needs.
