Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting after Leeds United’s appeal against Pascal Struijk’s suspension failed.

The defender was sent off against Liverpool at the weekend for a controversial tackle that dislocated Harvey Elliott’s ankle.

Elliott’s injury looked very serious as soon as it happened, and that left the referee with a decision to make.

The red card was promptly shown to Struijk, but on repeat viewing, the challenge wasn’t the horror tackle you’d usually associate with these types of injuries.

It wasn’t two-footed, it wasn’t a lunge and it was a genuine attempt to get the ball. So, Leeds feel they had the right to appeal.

However, the FA didn’t quite agree, and they believe that the centre-back deserves a ban for his tackle.

Interestingly, Liverpool supporters don’t agree with this sanction, claiming that this punishment is harsh for Struijk.

Harvey Elliott himself doesn’t agree with the suspension, nor do Liverpool supporters.

Here’s what the Anfield faithful have been saying on social media…
