Celtic could not prove Hearts man wrong.
Hearts striker Steven MacLean upped the ante for this weekend’s Scottish League Cup semi-final with Celtic this weekend.
Ahead of Celtic’s Europa League fixture against RB Leipzig, MacLean told the media how he hoped Celtic ‘get pumped’ by the German side.
It was not a thrashing, but Celtic were easily beaten 2-0.
Veteran MacLean told The Scotsman: “Hopefully they [Celtic] get pumped and lose a bit of confidence and we’ll see what happens on Sunday.”
The Hearts attacker believed a defeat for Celtic can be beneficial for his side at the weekend.
One negative is that MacLean’s comments could serve to rile Celtic up.
Hearts are top of the Scottish Premiership and full of confidence heading into the semi-final.
While they have had a week of rest, Celtic’s exertions could tip the tie in their favour.
