Speaking on The Done Deal Show, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has been discussing Arsenal’s hunt for a new winger and Leroy Sane.
The journalist was taking questions from fans about a number of transfer rumours that are circulating this summer, and a query came up about Leroy Sane and Chelsea.
Jacobs says he hasn’t heard anything concrete about Sane and Chelsea just yet, but he did claim that there had been rumblings earlier this summer about Arsenal potentially moving for the German.
What’s been said?
Jacobs spoke about Sane.
“Yeah I mean Sane to Chelsea is a kind of link that has been developed after Chelsea realised they wouldn’t get Gnabry and the Gnabry thing was a bit of a non-starter because he was always going to sign a new deal,” Jacobs said.
“The Sane thing is something to watch in the coming weeks. It’s not a link that I have yet put to sources and contracts other than a month ago, and the intonation was that Real Madrid might come in for Sane and I think that they would consider it if another club made a move.”
“A move to La Liga could be more likely, I’ve not heard rumblings at the Chelsea end, I’ve actually heard more rumblings from Arsenal that this was a name being considered at the beginning of the window, but then they turned their attentions to Raphinha.”

Go back for him
Arsenal may have turned their attentions away from Sane and towards Raphinha earlier this summer, but now that the Brazilian has headed to Barcelona, they should once again be looking at Sane.
This is a move that just makes so much sense. Arsenal want a winger, Sane may be available and, perhaps most importantly, Mikel Arteta knows this player well from his time at Manchester City.
Of course, potential interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid complicates things, but if Sane is available, Arsenal should be having a look at him.
