James Maddison has been linked with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, while Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea have been linked with his Leicester City teammate Wesley Fofana.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are preparing a third bid for Leicester centre-back Fofana and are determined to sign the Frenchman in the summer transfer window.
The Telegraph and 90min have reported that Newcastle have had bids turned down by Leicester for their £60 million-rated attacking midfielder Maddison.
Now, Leicester have maintained that they will not sell Maddison or Fofana, but former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Merson believes that the two players’ heads have been turned.

Paul Merson on Chelsea and Newcastle United targets
Merson wrote in SportsKeeda: “I’m worried for Leicester this season. There’s too much going on at the club.
“Maddison and Fofana have their heads turned at the moment, and Kasper Schmeichel’s departure is a massive loss for the team.
|They blew a 2-0 lead against Brentford and might lose quite a few players in the transfer market this month.”
Could the two transfers happen?
In our view, Chelsea and Newcastle United could be able to sign defender Wesley Fofana and playmaker James Maddison respectively from Premier League rivals Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
Money talks, and the players themselves could be tempted to move to new clubs.
Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world who regularly challenge for the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, while Newcastle are starting on a brand new project and have grand plans for the future.
