Arsenal needed a big game from star man Alexis Sanchez against Chelsea at the weekend, but saw him outshone by Eden Hazard.

The Belgian international has been in poor form this season for Jose Mourinho’s side, and was able to lift his game at the right time.

He scored the second goal in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, a fixture he also netted in last season.

Arsenal’s Sanchez struggled to get into the game, managing only eight successful passes compared to Hazard’s 46.

Hazard managed to created five goalscoring opportunities during the win, while Sanchez was limited by Chelsea’s defence.

The Chilean was of course hampered by Arsenal’s ill-disciplined display, who had Gabriel Paulista sent off in the first half and Santi Cazorla late in the second.

This allowed Chelsea to dominate possession with 63 per cent, and having 22 shots to Arsenal’s nine.

Both Sanchez and Hazard are yet to shine this season, but it is Hazard who appears to have risen from his slumber first.

He has one goal and one assist in the Premier League, while Sanchez is yet to register one in either category.

With Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott causing Arsene Wenger to flip flop between them in attack, the South American could relieve a lot of pressure on his boss by stepping up and rediscovering his scoring form.
