Mark Lawrenson has claimed that Daniel Levy ‘wouldn’t give you a crumb off his plate’, as he made reference to Tottenham’s possible transfer business in the summer.

Antonio Conte has proven that he can be a fiery and emotional character, as Lawrenson warned he will ‘walk away’ if Levy doesn’t give him what he wants, as he told Off the Ball.

Already this season, Conte has shown that emotional side when he seemingly threatened to quit after his side’s defeat at Burnley.

Well, that outburst worked within the Tottenham squad because they have ran riot since then, including sitting fourth in the Premier League table.

Whilst Lawrenson likes what he sees from Conte, he thinks the issue or the stumbling block could be Levy in the summer transfer market.

“You have to factor Daniel Levy into all of this,” said Lawrenson. “In terms of buying players, good luck!

“The only problem is, the best description of Daniel Levy I have ever heard is ‘he wouldn’t give you a crumb off his plate’, so he (Conte) is going to have to deal with it.

“The thing with Conte, I think he only signed for 18 months. Daniel Levy knows if he (Conte) doesn’t get what he wants, within reason, then he will walk away.

“So, he has got to then balance that in terms of players in and players out. And all those kinds of things.”

During the January transfer window, Conte was able to bring in two players in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.

The impact the two Juventus boys have made is quite remarkable and Kulusevski could argue that he has perhaps been the best purchase from the winter transfer window.

But, come the summer, Conte will want a lot more, he will be more demanding and it’s going to be interesting to see how far Levy dips into the club’s pockets.

If all goes well, then the perfect scenario would be, Conte extending his stay at the club at the end of the summer and Harry Kane also penning down a new deal.
