Noel Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (7:33pm, February 23, 2021) that Leeds United youngster Tyler Roberts will be disappointed that he did not score against Southampton this evening.
Leeds have got the better of Southampton 3-0 at Elland Road in the Premier League.
After a goalless first half, Patrick Bamford put the home team in the lead in the 47th minute, Stuart Dallas doubled the advantage on 78 minutes, and Raphinha made it 3-0 on 84 minutes.
Roberts provided the assist for the goal from Bamford, and the Wales international – who can operate as a striker, winger or attacking midfielder – could have scored himself.
Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and while he praised Roberts, he said that the 22-year-old will be disappointed not to etch his name on the scoresheet.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (7:33pm, February 23, 2021): “He had two very, very good chances. He would be happy with the assist, he would be disappointed not to score himself.”

Roberts played well for Leeds, as the youngster looked lively, creative and worked hard.
The youngster will be disappointed that he could not score tonight as he had two very good chances, but overall his display was very encouraging.
According to WhoScored, the youngster took three shots and one was on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 73.7%, took 33 touches, and made two tackles and one interception.
