Speaking to the Design Museum to celebrate the launch of its new exhibition, Football: Designing the Beautiful Game, Ray Parlour has been chatting about Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the idea of the Everton forward joining Arsenal.
Calvert-Lewin has been linked to the Gunners for a number of months now, and with Everton’s Premier League spot in peril, the striker could be on the move this summer.
Calvert-Lewin has only scored three Premier League goals this season, but Parlour is in favour of bringing the England international to the Emirates, claiming that he would add a new dynamic to the squad.
What’s been said?
Parlour backed a move to Arsenal for Calvert-Lewin.
“I’d also be interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton because he would add a new dynamic to the forward players already at the club. I think he would hold the ball up well and interchange passes with runners from midfield. He’d be a huge benefit to the likes of Saka and Smith-Rowe. Ivan Toney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are realistic targets who would improve the club this summer and I’m excited to see what happens,” Parlour said.

New dynamic
How long has it been since Arsenal had a striker with a physical presence up top?
Olivier Giroud was the last true striker the Gunners had in this mould, and to be honest, that’s probably what they need right now.
The London club have so many fast, tricky and talented wide players, and a striker who can head a ball and hold it up would be fantastic to complement the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
The fact that Calvert-Lewin is also a fantastic finisher also helps of course, but his link-up play would make him a brilliant addition to this squad.
