‘He won’t get the credit’: Bolasie claims unpopular Arsenal player was brilliant v Newcastle

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has highlighted Granit Xhaka for his performance in Arsenal’s win over Newcastle United last night.

The Gunners kicked off the defence of their FA Cup title against Steve Bruce’s side at the Emirates Stadium last night.

And despite Newcastle taking Arsenal to extra time, the champions ultimately saw off the Magpies by a 2-0 scoreline.

Xhaka replaced Joe Willock in midfield on 66 minutes and spent close to an hour on the pitch, due to the additional half-an-hour.

The Switzerland international is in a lot of Arsenal fans’ bad books at the moment for his stupid red card in the defeat by Burnley last month.

But it was a very steady cameo by Xhaka against Newcastle, with a lot of his over-the-top passes creating some problems for the visitors.

And although Bolasie believes that the player won’t get the credit, the Everton man has highlighted his display nonetheless:
