Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football London that Davinson Sanchez ‘will play’ against LASK in the Europa League this evening.

Sanchez missed out on starting for Tottenham last weekend, despite Toby Alderweireld’s injury.

New signing Joe Rodon was picked ahead of him for Spurs at Stamford Bridge, and he helped Mourinho’s men keep a clean sheet in the contest.

Rodon is ineligible for tonight though, as he wasn’t registered to play in the Europa League.

And Mourinho has confirmed that Sanchez will return to action this evening, although Alderweireld will miss out, despite his return to training.

“Yeah he has a chance [for the weekend]. Not for tomorrow,” Mourinho said of Alderweireld.

“Joe played against Chelsea and it wasn’t an easy first match to play.

“Davinson will play tomorrow. We have our options if he cannot play and we will not cry if he can’t like against Chelsea.”

Sanchez will be under pressure to impress this evening, as he has now slipped a long way down the pecking order.

The Colombian is badly struggling for game time now, and it seems that he is very much fighting to stay in contention at Spurs, especially as Mourinho’s side are once again being linked with signing a central defender in January.
