The Tottenham Hotspur defender has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Former Tottenham man Darren Anderton sat down for an exclusive interview with Bwin, and delivered his verdict on the potential of Toby Alderweireld leaving the club for Manchester United this summer.
The Belgium international has been heavily linked with a move from Spurs to Old Trafford, with the Mirror claiming that Jose Mourinho has identified the defender as one of his priority transfer targets this summer.

The Mirror claim that Tottenham will demand £75 million for Alderweireld, however, and whether that will be too rich for United’s blood remains to be seen.
The 29-year-old has firmly established himself as one of the continent’s best central defenders over the past few seasons, and losing him would be a massive blow to Spurs, regardless of how much money they receive for his signature.
Anderton, who made 306 appearances for Tottenham, believes that Alderweireld’s move from Tottenham to United is a mere formality, however, due to the money that the Red Devils will be able to offer him, as quoted by Bwin:

“I think [Toby] Alderweireld will leave Tottenham this summer. Until his injury he was the best defender in the Premier League so his situation is definitely a problem for the club. He’s an unbelievable player and he has formed a fantastic partnership with Vertonghen. Alderweireld will move on this summer because he wants to be paid what the best defenders earn and Tottenham won’t do that. Manchester United can afford to pay him far more money and he will massively boost their chances of winning the Premier League.”
This summer will be a vitally important one for Spurs, and the outcome of the saga involving Alderweireld will surely have a huge bearing on their chances of winning a major trophy next season.
