After filling in admirably at left-back during Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Dundee United last weekend, Nathan Patterson admitted that he had no qualms about what position he was playing in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team.
“Getting on the pitch is a bonus, no matter where you play,” Patterson told News Letter.
“I used to play there (left-back) when I was younger so I understand the position and when you have experienced players around you and talking you through the game, it’s easy.
“It is a good challenge for you and it takes your game on.”
Clearly, where Patterson plays is not an issue. How much he plays, however… well, that may be a different story.
It’s a testament to the enduring quality of James Tavernier that Patterson, arguably the biggest homegrown talent in the whole of Scottish football, has started a just two of a potential 19 Premiership games under Steven Gerrard and Gio van Bronckhorst.
In fact, there’s an argument to be made that Patterson would find game-time easier to come by south of the border than he does at Ibrox.
Will Rangers sell Nathan Patterson to Everton?
After failing with a pair of bids during the final few days of the summer transfer window, The Daily Record reports that Everton will come calling for Rangers’ buccaneering 20-year-old again in January.

Everton, The Mail suggest, may have to part with £10 million.
That is twice the amount Everton put on the table in August, a bid then-Gers boss Gerrard described as a ‘joke’.
Premier League interest in their most exciting academy graduate in many a year is no laughing matter as far as Rangers supporters are concerned, however.
A problem Patterson, who was just seven when Coleman moved to Everton from Sligo Rovers a decade ago, could solve not only in the present but for years to come.
