Tim Sherwood has told the Analysis Show that he would love Tottenham to sign Leeds United attacker Raphinha. The Brazilian is expected to leave Leeds in the summer, whether they stay up – or are relegated come May.
Raphinha, 25, has been in stunning form for Leeds since joining the club from Rennes for £17million in the summer of 2020. In 57 Premier League appearances, he has had a hand in 27 goals – scoring 15 and creating 12.
Breaking into the Brazil side earlier in the season, Raphinha has recently endured a drop in form towards the end of Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure. But he looks happier under Jesse Marsch – shining in Marsch’s first three games.
On Sunday, he produced a masterclass for Leeds – hitting the bar twice and creating the dramatic winner for Joe Gelhardt, as Leeds beat Norwich City. Sherwood expects him to leave Leeds, and wants him at Tottenham.
“Very difficult to keep him. I’m not exaggerating to say he could play anywhere in the Premier League. There is not a team he wouldn’t fit. It depends how regularly he wants to play, and Leeds’ ambition.
“He is only going to be a lot of money to buy, but it is worth it. He has shown that he can play in the Premier League, a low-risk signing. I’d like to have him at Tottenham, I think he’s be a great player at Tottenham.”
Sherwood on Raphinha: Leeds star would shine at Tottenham
But it would be massively harsh on Dejan Kulusevski. The Sweden wonderkid has sparkled in his first few games at Tottenham – producing five goals involvements in his six Premier League starts at Spurs.
Indeed, he has scored two and creating three. But Kulusevski is versatile and he could revert to wing-back, with Raphinha in front of him. Raphinha can also play on the left and as a 10. It would be a superb signing.
