Alan Shearer has said on Match of the Day on BBC One (11:27pm, August 13, 2022) that Leeds United star Rodrigo will score more goals this season that he did in the last campaign.
The Newcastle United legend made the comments about Rodrigo while analysing his performance for Leeds against Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Premier League game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Rodrigo, who cost Leeds £26 million in transfer fees in the summer of 2020 (BBC Sport), scored both the goals for the West Yorkshire club.
The Spain international, who can operate as a striker, winger, or attacking midfielder, scored once against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road in the league last weekend.
Rodrigo scored six goals and gave one assist in the Premier League for Leeds last season, and in 2020-21, he scored seven goals and provided two assists in the league.

Alan Shearer on Leeds United star Rodrigo
Shearer said on Match of the Day on BBC One (11:27pm, August 13, 2022): “Rodrigo, another two. Three already this season. Only got six last season, so I am sure he will beat that.”
In our view, Rodrigo will beat his goals-tally from last season, and we think that the Leeds United star could end up scoring 10 or more goals in the Premier League this season.
The Spaniard is looking very sharp at the moment, and he is finding himself in goalscoring positions now.
