Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Ben Davies will wear Tottenham Hotspur’s captain’s armband against Wolfsberger AC tonight, on the club’s official app.

Davies is set to start for Tottenham later, with Mourinho once again turning to the left-back.

The Welshman has always been a reliable figure throughout his time at Spurs.

While he may not possess the same attacking quality as Sergio Reguilon, he does a very solid job as understudy.

Both Mauricio Pochettino and Mourinho have valued Davies highly during their time at Spurs, which has led to him racking up a sizeable number of appearances for the club now.

Davies is set to make his 50th European appearance for Tottenham, and Mourinho will mark the occasion by giving him the armband.

“Ben is amazing. Because tomorrow Hugo is on the bench, he will be the captain. It’s a good thing for Ben to celebrate his 50th international match with the club,” Mourinho said.

Tottenham go into the game 4-1 up after the first leg, so the pressure should be off Davies.

But as captain he will want to lead by example and ensure that his teammates do not take their foot off the gas and give Wolfsberger any hope of pulling off an upset.
