Darren Bent has urged Premier League clubs to sign reported Wolves target Diego Costa, who still has got ‘a lot left’, as he told the Football Show on Sky Sports (06/01/21 at 12:45 pm).

Following the termination of Costa’s contract at Atletico Madrid, he has become a target for many clubs, including Wolves.

Whilst Wolves need an option upfront following the head injury to Raul Jimenez, it seems as though those in the Midlands have hit a stumbling block in trying to sign Costa, according to the Daily Mail.

Nonetheless, Bent lauded the qualities Costa has in his locker and he thinks he would be a dangerous edition for any Premier League side.

“Yes, of course [he would be a good option for someone] because you are going to pick him up for nothing,” said Bent. “He already has Premier League experience and he even won a Premier League Golden Boot.

“If someone can pick him up, not necessarily to start every single game, but to bring him off the bench and start some games then he will always have an impact just because of the way he plays.

“I would be all for most of the teams in the Premier League need another centre-forward just as a back-up then, for me, I would go and get Diego Costa because I think he has got a lot left.

“I know he has had a lot of injuries of late. But if you can get him back fully fit then the hunger that he shows and the desire. Then I think he can still a very, very good job for somebody.”

Wolves would be the perfect destination for Costa because they are looking for that all-round aggressor to lead the line for them.

But given that he’s a free-agent there will surely be other Premier League clubs at least testing the water and seeing if they could secure his services.

Costa is the type of player you would absolutely love to have on your team, but hate to be on the opposition, so his presence alone causes havoc and danger, which is a great trait to have.
