Alan Shearer thinks Mo Salah will ‘get what he wants’ and he will sign a new contract at Liverpool, as he told Premier League Productions (16/01/22 at 1:20 pm).

The Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer added that ‘for the life of me’, he can’t see how those in the Liverpool boardroom would either allow him to leave on a free or sell him.

Salah has 18-months remaining on his contract at Anfield and, at this moment in time, he is heading for the exit door.

The Liverpool legend has made it clear that he wants to stay on Merseyside and end his career with one of the biggest clubs in world football.

But, at this moment in time, there is a clear issue with his contract, although, Shearer thinks it will all be resolved.

“What he has done and achieved at Liverpool is quite incredible,” said Shearer. “I can’t see, for the life of me, how they could allow him to walk away for nothing or sell him. I don’t think it should or could happen.

“He is saying ‘it’s not crazy stuff’ and that would be hard for the public to understand when you are talking about these vast sums of money that players are on nowadays.

“But he will look around at other players, in his position. He will know what his value is to Liverpool. And he’s in a very strong position. The longer it goes on, the more powerful Salah becomes because you are going towards the end of your contract.

“They can’t allow him to leave for nothing, the asset that he is to Liverpool. It’s an incredible amount of money that he will want. I think he will end up getting what he wants.”

It seems as though FSG aren’t willing to break their wage structure for one of the best players on the planet.

If Salah does end up leaving, at whatever cost, then there will be serious anger from the stands.

As of today, the Egyptian flyer could argue that he has now earned the right to get into Liverpool’s all-time XI.

Even if he doesn’t, one thing is for sure, he is not far off it, so that’s the type of figure FSG will be allowing to leave if his contract situation isn’t resolved.
