Where is Ismaila Sarr? Anyone? His nation Senegal seemingly don’t know and his Watford manager, Slaven Bilic, is trying to find the answers.
The Everton and Leeds United transfer target was part of the Senegal team that were booted out of the World Cup by England on December 4th.
Sarr was expected back at Vicarage Road for Watford’s Championship encounter against Hull City over the weekend, but as Bilic told the Watford Observer he ‘hoped he was here’.
One thing is for sure, he was expected back in training last week, but he didn’t turn up. He was expected to feature against Hull, but once again, he wasn’t present.
Whilst Sarr was absent for the Hornets, his national teammate, Iliman Ndiaye, started for Sheffield United on the same day.
Either way, Bilic is trying to find the answers and this is what he had to say.
“I said what I had to say on Friday, and that’s enough,” said Bilic. “I don’t really want to say much more. We expected him back yesterday and I hoped he would be involved today.
“Of course we miss Sarr. If had been here, of course I would have played him. He didn’t come, he wasn’t at training yesterday, so he was out. From then on I was totally concentrated on the game.
“I hoped he would be here, he wasn’t here, so that’s it.”
SARR SURELY LOOKING FOR A TRANSFER
When Watford were relegated to England’s second tier, many expected Sarr to stay in the Premier League and secure a transfer to a club, either in Europe or one pushing to hit those heights.
A move didn’t materialise for the player, and instead, he remained at Watford, where he has scored six goals from 17 matches.
But these recent actions from Sarr surely point towards him wanting out ahead of the January transfer window.
Unless there is some sort of miscommunication, it will be interesting to see what those interested parties – Everton and Leeds – make of Sarr’s actions.
