Speaking on The Beautiful Game Podcast, Eddie Nketiah has gone on the record to speak about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his departure from Arsenal.
The Gabonese forward was unceremoniously dumped by the Gunners in the January transfer window as he was allowed to join Barcelona on a free transfer after falling out with Mikel Arteta.
While Arteta seemingly didn’t want Aubameyang in the dressing room, Nketiah says that he’s actually really missing the attacker, stating that he was a great guy and that he learnt a lot from him.
What’s been said?
Nketiah spoke about Aubameyang’s departure.
“It was different, you saw these players growing up, I wouldn’t say it affects me, obviously you miss them, Auba is a great guy, I learnt so much from him and he was so good for me, but it’s part and parcel of football at the end of the day. I care about everyone, but I’m also in my own zone caring about myself,” Nketiah said.

What’s gone on?
There’s a massive element of mystery around what happened with Aubameyang at Arsenal, and this situation seems even stranger after Nketiah’s comments here.
Aubameyang was seemingly let go because he was a bad influence in the dressing room, but according to Nketiah, he was a great mentor who taught him a lot.
This situation gets more and more bizarre the more we hear about it, and we can only hope to get some clarity on what’s actually happened one of these days.
