Neil Redfearn has spoken about Leeds United player Chris Dawson.
Leeds United academy boss Neil Redfearn has praised Chris Dawson after his two goals fired the club’s under-21s to a 2-1 victory over their Bristol City counterparts on Monday.
Dawson is in tremendous form and some have suggested the 20-year-old should be given a chance in the first-team by Leeds head coach Darko Milanic.
“Chris Dawson scored two great goals and he was outstanding in the game,” Redfearn told LUTV. “There were a lot of good performances out there but he was the one who stood out for me.”
When asked if Dawson could break into the Leeds first-team, the former caretaker boss suggested it was not beyond the realms of possibility.
“Well he’s got to keep plugging away,” he said. “He’s got to keep knocking on the door and that’s what he’s doing. His performances speak for themselves.
“He’s getting a goal or two, he creates chances, he’s a dangerous little player and he’s got a bright future.”
If Dawson continues to put in performances like that, Milanic will surely have no choice but to give him a chance at a higher level, and you sense it is one Redfearn feels he is ready for.
