Dimitar Berbatov has claimed that Harry Kane looked ‘nervous’ during Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the north London derby on Saturday.
The former Spurs man highlighted that Kane showcased that nervous nature when he stepped up to take a penalty for his side – that was the 29-year-old’s 14th north London derby goal.
Just like Kane showed on England duty over the international break, when it comes to putting the ball away from the spot, he is a master, even though he was coming up against his national teammate, Aaron Ramsdale.
Well, yesterday, he didn’t let his side down at that moment, as he cancelled out Thomas Partey’s opener, only for it all to go downhill after that.
It wasn’t a pleasant afternoon at the Emirates for Kane or anyone associated with Spurs, as they also suffered their first defeat of the Premier League campaign.
Nonetheless, during his playing days, Berbatov always showcased ice through his veins and he commented on Kane scoring yet again in the north London derby, as he told Premier League Productions.
“We said maybe he was going to do that (go down the middle),” said Berbatov. “I think it was because he was nervous. He took a long time to put the penalty away.
“But sometimes when you strike in the middle, you aren’t sure which angle to go and you go for the sure one in the middle. It was actually a good penalty, in the end.”

To think at the age of 29, Kane is topping the goalscoring record in north London derby history, then it begs the question of the numbers he will hit when he finishes up.
Of course, he has to stay in Tottenham colours in order to well and truly smash this one out of the park.
But, even now, it’s going to be a difficult record to beat in years to come because he is only adding to that tally so far.
Of course, the England captain would more than happily take yesterday’s goal away, as long as it meant his side secure something from the game.
In the end, Antonio Conte’s side left empty-handed and now it’s back to the drawing board as they are back in Champions League action next week.
