It looks like Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker-Peters has finally impressed his loan manager.
The 23-year-old has endured a very difficult half-season loan at Southampton and had only managed 73 minutes of Premier League football before last night.
But the right-back, a Tottenham academy graduate, played the second 45 minutes in their 2-0 defeat by Arsenal at St Mary’s.
And although Saints boss Ralph Hassenhuttl admits that the player is still fairly rough around the edges, the Austrian manager conceded that ‘he was much better’.
He told a press conference via Football London: “He did a good job today in possession with good decisions. We can still improve this player but he was much better.”
This is a good step in the right direction for the Tottenham talent.
Earlier this week, Hassenhuttl, who has the option to sign Walker-Peters permanently, revealed to The Daily Echo that no decision has been made on whether they’ll be keeping him long term.
But it seems like he certainly gave his manager food for thought, which is good because it doesn’t appear he has much future in North London under Jose Mourinho.
