Danny Murphy has claimed that Davinson Sanchez has been ‘reborn’ at Tottenham under Antonio Conte, as he told talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old has been a regular ever since Conte was handed the keys to the Spurs dressing room and Murphy thinks Sanchez is now going to be ‘important’ to his manager.

It has been five years since Spurs paid Ajax £42 million (Guardian) for Sanchez’s talents and during that period he has been inconsistent.

There have been a number of error-prone performances from the ball-playing centre-back, but he is now finding a rhythm playing in a back three under Conte.

Ex-Spurs man Murphy likes what he sees from Sanchez and thinks Conte’s system suits the Colombian.

“Davinson Sanchez, he has actually been reborn a little bit,” said Murphy. “He was in and out of the team. Then Conte has come along and played three at the back.

“I like him actually. Strong. I like him in a three because the odd mistake he makes is covered.

“He popped up with a winner, didn’t he, which keeps Tottenham in the hunt for the top four and he’s going to be important.”

It’s a positive start for many Spurs players ever since Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in the dugout.

But so did a certain Jose Mourinho enjoy a fruitful start to his campaign and look how that ended up.

Spurs fans will be more hopeful that things will go well under Conte because he feels like a more modern appointment than Mourinho.

Plus, he has been more successful than the Portuguese coach of late and, even though they have similar styles, the Italian just seems to be more appreciated.
