Former Ajax star praises Davinson Sanchez’s impact and backs his Tottenham move.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has praised the performances of Davinson Sanchez and backed his decision to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Sanchez quit Ajax last month in a controversial move after just one season in Holland.
Tottenham splashed out a record fee to buy him, and Onana believes it was a decision Sanchez had to take.
Even so, the goalkeeper laments his exit and believes his exit is clearly to the club’s detriment.

He told Ajax TV: “I found him one of the best defenders last season. He was fantastic for us.
“He helped me a lot, we often kept nil with him.
“Sometimes you have to consider yourself too. It was a good time for him to go. I understand it’s football. Every year you have new friends.”

Sanchez made his debut for Spurs in injury time against Burnley and will hope to make his first start for the club this month.
He impressed on international duty for Colombia against Brazil this week although the long flight back could put him at a disadvantage when Mauricio Pochettino considers his team selection for the trip to Everton this weekend.
Onana’s comments are more encouragement that Spurs have bought a gem, and that their record addition will have more success than their last one, Moussa Sissoko, has so far enjoyed.
