Reported Liverpool target Christian Pulisic’s performance for the USA has been praised by the local media as well as by his manager.

Pulisic has not been having the best of times for Chelsea this season, and that has led to rumours linking the USA international with Liverpool among other clubs.

The Daily Mail reported this month that Liverpool are interested in signing the 22-year-old from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2021.

The report claimed interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich as well in the youngster, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.

Pulisic was in action for the USA on Sunday, and the Chelsea man’s performance was superb, as the Americans got the better of Northern Ireland 2-1 at Windsor Park in the friendly international.

The attacking midfielder scored the winner in the 59th minute from the penalty spot after himself winning the spot kick and was arguably the best player on the pitch.

NBCSports gave Pulisic 8 out of 10 in their player ratings, saying that “he was everywhere”.

The American news media outlet added: “Wore the captain’s armband, won a penalty kick and scored it and led by example. Surging runs through the middle, and played on the left and right. His class, speed and power is clearly a level above the other U.S. players.”

USA manager Gregg Berhalter raved about Pulisic as well, and is quoted as saying by Goal.com: “What I say about Christian is to forget about all the great stuff he does on the ball. He just competed today, and, when he’s in that type of mode, he’s just an unbelievable player.

“That’s what I was most happy with today: the relentless pressing. He just kept going and going and going, and then he’s so good on the ball, he can unbalance a team. To me, he had an overall really strong performance.”

Pulisic is a very talented and promising young attacking player, and while he would make Liverpool a better team, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will be willing to sell him.
