Troy Deeney has heaped praise on Alexandre Lacazette on talkSPORT Breakfast (14/12/20 at 6:50 am) by claiming that he was ‘everywhere’ during Arsenal’s defeat to Burnley and was even ‘doing too much’.

Whilst Deeney was praising Arsenal’s out-of-form striker, club legend Ian Wright called for him to be dropped, alongside the likes of Granit Xhaka and Willian [Read Here].

Mikel Arteta’s side are in a shocking state of form and the only reaction he is getting from his players are headbutts and grabbing opposition players from the neck.

But Deeney seemingly saw some positives from Arsenal’s morale-sapping defeat to Burnley on Sunday and it came in the form of Lacazette.

“Look at the players that came on for Burnley,” said Deeney. “It’s like for like. They are coming in, they know what their jobs are and what they have to do.

“You have to remember you have to add Pepe to that as well [attack v Burnley]. I know he’s suspended. That attacking line-up for Arsenal is very good. It cannot be a case of they don’t have the quality there. We are not sitting here questioning quality. We are questioning what we call the basics. The desire. Who wants it. Who is going go to make it happen.

“I saw that with Lacazette [against Burnley] funnily enough. He was everywhere. Trying to get on the ball. Trying to spark things. Probably doing too much in the right positions. But he was going and getting it.”

Ever since Arsenal paid £47 million [BBC Sport] for the services of Lacazette from Lyon in 2017, it has always seemed as though he hasn’t really made his mark at the club.

Under previous managers, he has always been that one who would get substituted, or first to be dropped after a poor result.

Saying that, from an attacking sense, there isn’t much to shout about for Arsenal, even from their star man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose twin brother has turned up to the Emirates this season.
