Speaking on Stadium Astro’s YouTube Channel, Gus Poyet has expressed sympathy for Tottenham attacker Heung-Min Son after Tottenham lost to Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

The Korean struggled to really get any chances, and that was down to Spurs’ negative approach to this match stifling his talents.

Son has proven himself to be one of the most potent finishers in the Premier League this season, but he didn’t get a sniff at goal against Chelsea, and Poyet can’t help but feel for him after this display.

“Well, normally the offensive players are certain exceptions, they are the ones who want to play, they want to get onto the ball,” Poyet said.

“I felt sorry a little bit for Son today in certain moments, he couldn’t get on the ball, he couldn’t get closer and he couldn’t get in positions to have a shot, he was desperate to have a chance.”

We can’t help but agree with Poyet here.

Jose Mourinho set Tottenham up in such a negative way that it was pointless for Son to even be on the pitch at times.

Mourinho may have been without Harry Kane, but he still had one of the best attackers in the league on the pitch, and he completely failed to use him.

We can only hope that Son gets the chance to put this right in the next game and Spurs decide to go more attacking.
