Jack Wilshere has named Santi Cazorla as the best player and the most enjoyable he has played with at Arsenal, as he told Tube’s YouTube channel.

Probably one of the most underrated players in the Premier League, Cazorla was technically one of the best to grace Arsenal’s turf.

Cazorla left Arsenal in 2018 and his exit is still felt at the Emirates today because Arsenal still haven’t replaced him.

But whilst Wilshere initially found it difficult to name the best player he competed with, he shared how the two-footed, Cazorla, was just a ‘joke’.

“The best player I played with, there are a few,” said Wilshere. “It’s so hard to name one. I played with Ozil, Fabregas and Van Persie.

“The one that I enjoyed playing with the most on a regular basis was probably Cazorla.

“What a guy and what a player! Mate, he was a joke (on taking corners with both feet).

“Honestly, you could not tell from the first day he came in, you couldn’t tell what foot he was. I have never seen anything like it before.”

Arsenal would dream to have a player of Cazorla’s calibre now because it’s one area that they have severely declined in over the years.

Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe are trying to bring that magic back to the final third, but they are still young and trying to progress their own game.

Whilst someone like Saka is a completely different player to Cazorla, he did carry this Arsenal side last season and it’s remarkable he did that given that he’s still a teenager.

Either way, if the ‘Croydon-de Bruyne’ can channel a bit of that creative spark next season then Arsenal’s stagnating midfield will elevate to much higher levels.
