Clinton Morrison told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (09/01/21 at 5:10 pm) that Josh King ‘wants to leave’ Bournemouth and he would be a ‘great fit’ for West Ham.
The former Crystal Palace striker was applauding King for his weekend display in the FA Cup, as he backed him to make the move to West Ham.
The Daily Mail have linked King’s name to West Ham and his brace in the FA Cup on Saturday will only add fuel to that fire.
Nonetheless, Morrison labelled King as an ‘excellent footballer’ after his recent performance and commented on those West Ham rumours.
“You just wonder now can Bournemouth hold onto him,” questioned Morrison. “He’s a good player. I think that 90 minutes he got will help him. But he looked really sharp.
“Yes, I think he’s a Premier League player, without a shadow of a doubt, Josh King because he can play as a number nine, as a seven or an 11.
“I think West Ham were interested and I think that would be a great fit for Josh King. I think he’s an excellent footballer. Bournemouth will struggle to keep hold of him. All the signs coming out of there that he wants to leave. But he showed his class.”
West Ham are now looking for options in the forward areas after parting ways with their record signing Sebastien Haller.
Whilst David Moyes has Michail Antonio leading the line, he can be reliable in terms of his performances, but not in regards to staying out of the treatment room.
King’s versatility, technical ability, off the ball movement, natural strength and experience in England’s top-flight would be useful to West Ham in the forward areas.
