Fabrizio Romano has given Everton a piece of good news ahead of the January transfer window.
The Toffees were heavily linked with a move for Napoli hitman Arkadiusz Milik during the summer but a switch to Merseyside failed to materialise.
Nonetheless, Everton are reportedly still interested in the Poland internatinoal and AreaNapoli reported in November that Carlo Ancelotti – who managed the striker in Naples – could pick him up for £14 million next month.
Milik, who hasn’t played a minute for the Italian outfit this season due to being frozen out, will be a free agent next summer.
But journalist Romano has revealed via his Here We Go podcast that the 26-year-old wants to leave ‘immediately’ rather than become a free agent in six months, in what could be a boost for the Premier League club.
The Italian said: “He wants to leave the club immediately in January, in some weeks. He wants to be back playing football in January. Napoli have no intention of bringing him back on the pitch.”
It’s important to mention that Everton didn’t sign a striker this past summer.
Ancelotti signed a host of midfielders and some defenders, but no number nine was recruited and therefore you’d have to think that the legendary coach might still want him at Goodison Park, even if Dominic Calvert-Lewin – who has 14 goals in 13 games this season – is ripping it up.
