Speaking on The Official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has been discussing Kalvin Phillips after his move to Manchester City.
Phillips was an integral part of this Leeds team over the past five years, and now that he’s gone, it’s proven tough to say goodbye to the Yorkshire Pirlo.
Despite moving over to the other side of the Pennines, Phillips is still in the Leeds United Whatsapp group, and according to Bamford, he’s been messaging the squad prior to both of their games so far this season.
Indeed, the striker says that Phillips has wished his old team luck via text before both of their matches so far this term.

Bamford spoke about Phillips after he left Leeds.
“Obviously, someone else who was integral in our promotion, Kalvin has moved on. Is he out of the Whatsapp group now?” The podcast’s host asked.
“No, he’s still in, I don’t mind it too much, it’s not like the first-team information group it’s more like the players rather than him knowing everything that’s going on. He text us before the games on the group saying good luck, before the first two games, so I still speak to him quite a bit privately,” Bamford said.
No hard feelings
It’s rare that a player leaves a club on such good terms, but Phillips has departed Leeds without any hard feelings at all.
As a local lad, it was tough for some fans to stomach the fact that he’s ditched Leeds for Manchester City, but he clearly still cares about his boyhood club and his old teammates.
Phillips still wants the best for Leeds, and while he won’t be wishing them luck when they visit the Etihad later in the season, he seemingly wants the Whites to kick on this season.
Phillips is on good terms with all of his Leeds teammates, and the fact that he’s still in the club’s Whatsapp group just goes to show how well-liked he was.
