Clinton Morrison has claimed that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte ‘talks too much’, as he told Sky Sports News (26/02/22 at 12:20 pm).

The former Premier League striker claimed that Conte’s emotions are a little too up and down after a drama-filled week for Spurs.

Last week, the north London side were scoring the winning goal in stoppage-time to beat the Premier League champions in their own backyard.

But they followed that up by losing to relegation-threatened Burnley in midweek, which then sparked a quite emotional post-match interview from the Italian, where he seemingly threatened to quit.

When the dust settled, Conte made it clear that he was staying put for the long-term and Morrison shared his thoughts on the up and down week for the Spurs boss.

“He reminds me of myself as a player,” said Morrison. “He talks too much. When I was younger, I used to talk too much.

“The Man City game, brilliant performance and everyone is on a high. He goes to Burnley, and it’s not a good performance, then I think he is trying to have a dig at the players. But you keep that in-house.

“I have never been a manager, so it’s difficult. But if my manager is coming out like that, after Burnley, then I am thinking ‘hold on a minute, days earlier we were the best team around. Now we aren’t so good’.

“One week it’s brilliant and then next week it’s not. I don’t agree with what he said after the Burnley game. I don’t think he should say that. It looked like he is trying to force the chairman’s hand – then you hear it’s all rosy again.”

Conte’s recent emotional outburst is perhaps a warning to his players and those at the top.

Who it is mostly aimed at is up for debate, but one thing is for sure, he needs backing in the summer.

If that happens, as he has proved in glimpses already with Spurs, then he can push the club in the direction that they want to go.

Added with that, he has had a trophy-laden career as a manager, for a reason, and just like Jose Mourinho, this is the club’s best chance of ending that barren run without any silverware.
