Jason Cundy appeared to be critical of Ezri Konsa for the role he played in Armando Broja’s injury during Aston Villa and Chelsea’s friendly clash in Abu Dhabi.
The Villa centre-back was running at his own goal and towards his goalkeeper, Robin Olsen, in the first half, with Broja closing him down from behind.
Konsa called for Olsen to come off his line to collect the ball, but when he didn’t, he changed direction and headed towards his left from inside the penalty area, with Chelsea’s academy product going in for a challenge, missing the ball and then going down in an awkward fashion.

As soon as Broja hit the deck, he was clutching his knee and screaming in pain, before he was later taken off on a go-kart.
The injury didn’t look good at all, with Cundy sharing his thoughts on the matter and questioning the actions of Konsa during that phase of play, as he told Chelsea’s official YouTube channel.
“I don’t know what Konsa is doing, Broja goes in and it’s innocuous there is no obvious sign of an injury there,” said Cundy. “But just his reaction is incredibly worrying.
“Oh, he’s in a lot of agony the boy. This feels very concerning. He’s still whimpering in pain. I don’t know what’s happened there, but just his reaction, I don’t like it at all. It’s incredibly worrying for the young man.
“He is holding his knee. Your instant reaction is serious ligament damage with the ACL, the one you fear and he’s still down. These are very concerning pictures for him. Fingers crossed. But I have to say, I don’t like what I am watching.
“Konsa takes too long, it’s a nothing challenge. Even Konsa and Olsen wave over (for the medics), they can tell by his reaction and his pain. The noise he was making. I don’t like the look of that. If that injury is bad, then Graham Potter might have to go into the transfer market.
“Konsa hesitates, the relationship between the pair (Konsa and his goalkeeper). There is a miscommunication between Konsa and Olsen, and in doing so, it allows, he has every right to go for it Broja, but in doing so he has injured himself.”

ASTON VILLA SEND MESSAGE TO BROJA
At 21, Broja is trying to become a Premier League regular at Stamford Bridge and given their forward problems, this was a season for him to possibly force himself into Chelsea’s XI.
But that injury just didn’t look and sound good at all, with Aston Villa’s official Twitter account acknowledging that and sending the player a message on Twitter which read:
“Wishing all the best to Armando Broja, who leaves the field on a stretcher after suffering an injury.”
