Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Petr Cech has been discussing Aaron Ramsdale’s progress since joining Arsenal.
Eyebrows were raised when the Gunners spent a huge fee to sign Ramsdale after back-to-back relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United, but the England goalkeeper has more than justified his pricetag since.
Indeed, the 24-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top stoppers, and Cech has been blown away by his development.
The former Chelsea goalie says he’s been shocked at how well Ramsdale has adapted to Arsenal’s style since his arrival at the Emirates.

Cech shocked by Ramsdale
Cech discussed Arsenal’s number one.
“Have you been impressed with Aaron’s progress at Arsenal?” Cech was asked.
“Yes, I have to say he surprised me with the way he adapted from coming from a completely different style of football to Arsenal. We know when he was at Sheffield United it was a different style, he wanted to play quick, simple and direct, at Bournemouth he had to play, that was a different story, but it’s different playing for a team at the top of the table rather than the bottom of the table,” Cech said.
Who saw this coming?
Ramsdale looked to be a promising goalkeeper at Sheffield United, but there aren’t many who saw this meteoric rise coming.
Indeed, while the 24-year-old looked to have untapped potential, nobody expected him to become one of the best in England within weeks of joining Arsenal.
He’s taken to life at a top club like a duck to water, and for the first time in a while, Arsenal now seem to have a long-term number one at the club.
