Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has explained his decision to take off Mohamed Salah against Chelsea, as quoted on Sky Sports.

Salah was in action for Liverpool against Chelsea at Anfield in the Premier League on Thursday evening.

The Egypt international forward started the match, but Klopp decided to take off the 28-year-old in the 62nd minute.

The decision took some Liverpool fans by surprise, and Klopp has explained why he took off Salah.

The Liverpool manager has also explained his decision to bring on James Milner for Thiago on 80 minutes.

Sky Sports quotes Klopp as saying about his decision on Salah: “I just brought on fresh legs. Mo [Salah] looked like today he suffered a bit, he played a lot of games.

“I could have taken off Sadio or Bobby, that is all clear but at that moment it looked like Mo. Milner we bought on to wake them up a bit and keep them in the game because we needed one situation.”

Strange decision?

Salah was not having the best of games against Chelsea, but the Egyptian is still a goal threat.

Perhaps Klopp should have kept on the 28-year-old against the Blues, as there was still enough time for the defending English champions to restore parity.

Salah has scored 17 goals and provided three assists in the league, and has scored four goals and provided one assist in the Champions League for Liverpool so far this season, according to WhoScored.

The 1-0 defeat to Chelsea has made it tougher for Liverpool to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
