Tim Sherwood has claimed that Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour ‘starts on Sunday’ for Tottenham, as he told the Weekend Review.

Spurs will host in-form Chelsea in North London in a few hours time, with the away side looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign and the home team looking to bounce back after a tough week.

Both clubs made several changes to their squads this summer, including outgoings, with Chelsea allowing youngster Gilmour to leave for Norwich on loan.

The Scotland international is earning regular minutes with the newly-promoted side and will be hoping to help them survive – although, they have lost every Premier League game so far.

But ex-Spurs boss Sherwood thinks if Gilmour is at Spurs, then he is lining up against Chelsea on Sunday.

“Billy Gilmour goes to Norwich,” said Sherwood. “He plays for Tottenham if he’s at Tottenham.

“He plays. He starts on Sunday.”

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp are the two individuals who play deeper roles for Spurs.

There’s no way Gilmour gets ahead of Hojbjerg because he was a top performer for them last season and he has continued that on during this campaign.

But perhaps the debates will rage on as to who you pick between Skipp and Gilmour.

Whilst the latter is an international, Skipp has had more regular minutes in the top-flight, including minutes in the Champions League under Mauricio Pochettino.

Ironically enough, it was Gilmour who replaced Skipp at Norwich because the latter helped them earn promotion to the Premier League last season and then they brought in the Scotsman to fill that void he left.
