Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports during their live coverage of Liverpool’s win at the Emirates over the weekend that Diogo Jota ‘starts midweek against Real Madrid’.
The 24-year-old was brought off the bench on Saturday and only took two minutes to open the scoring for Liverpool before ending the game with a brace.
Whether Jota is donning the colours of Portugal or Liverpool, there seems no ending to his unstoppable form in front of goal.
And Redknapp is certain that he will be brought back into the fold for Tuesday’s heavyweight showdown against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
“I think he starts midweek against Real Madrid,” said Redknapp. “I think that’s the reason he went with Firmino.
“He (Firmino) didn’t play any football during this international break. I think Jota will play against Real Madrid, for sure.”

There could be the argument that all four of Jota, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah should start in Spain.
But that would be some statement from Klopp during this first leg encounter.
It will be interesting to see if Klopp will be more encouraged to go more attacking because Sergio Ramos will be absent for the game and he leaves a big hole in Madrid’s defence, just like Virgil van Dijk does for the Reds.
