Tim Sherwood has said that he spotted Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho going absolutely mad at Matt Doherty on the sideline last night, during their game against Liverpool.

Speaking live on Premier League productions, Sherwood was analysing Liverpool’s second goal in their 3-1 win and spoke about how Doherty did nowhere near enough to stop Sadio Mane.

The Spurs summer signing wanted to mark Mane far too closely, which allowed him to spin and make room for the shot.

And Sherwood felt Mourinho was within his rights to be absolutely furious with Tottenham’s £12 million man (Guardian).

“He gets too tight there, what he wants to do is feel you and he has spun him too easily,” Sherwood said.

“Mourinho has every right to be annoyed with Doherty and he absolutely slaughters him from the sideline, you see him.”

Doherty endured another difficult night in a Tottenham shirt yesterday, with his start at the club far from auspicious.

Doherty was hardly helped by having to play in two different positions during the game, though.

The former Wolves man started as an auxiliary left-wing back, before being moved into his more comfortable right-sided role in the second half.

Tottenham’s next game comes against Brighton & Hove Albion, when it will be interesting to see if Doherty keeps his place.
