Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio has been talking about Christian Eriksen after his return to the Premier League.

The Danish midfielder signed for Brentford in January, and he made his first start for the Bees at the weekend.

Brentford ran out 3-1 winners, and Antonio was impressed by what he saw from Eriksen, claiming that he’s beginning to show the quality that he showed back when he was one of the league’s best players at Tottenham.

What’s been said?

Antonio gave his view on Eriksen.

“He’s back out there enjoying his football. He could easily have retired because of the situation he’s had, but he loves football and he loves to play, and that’s what he’s done. He’s gone to Brentford and he’s trying to show that he’s got the quality that he’s always had. The quality that he showed at Tottenham and why he got his move to Inter Milan. That’s what he’s trying to do, to work his way back into the league and pick up where he left off.

Fingers crossed

After his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, everyone is surely hoping that Christian Eriksen can show us his quality in the Premier League once again.

As Antonio said, he could very easily have retired after the Euros, but he wants to keep playing, and with the talent he possesses, don’t be surprised if he reaches the top level again.

Eriksen is only 30 and it was only last season that he played a key part in a Serie A-winning team. If he feels fit enough to play in the Premier League, then he might be fit enough to be one of the division’s best players once again.
