Michael Brown has criticised Tottenham Hotspur right wing-back Matt Doherty on BBC Radio 5 Live for his challenge on Everton winger Dwight McNeil in the second half of the Premier League match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.

The former Tottenham player believes that Tottenham and Republic of Ireland international right-back Doherty could have really hurt McNeil of Everton.

The incident happened in the second half.

As reported by BBC Sport, McNeil won it in the air, but he was caught afterwards by Doherty.

The 22-year-old Everton was not hurt, but Brown believes that he could have been seriously injured from the challenge from the £14.7 million (The Guardian) player.

Brown said: “Doherty is too late, he shouldn’t even go in for that challenge. He’s late. McNeil is lucky it wasn’t worse than that.”

Important win for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur won the Premier League game against Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with relative ease.

Spurs were the better side, and we think that Antonio Conte’s team deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter against the Toffees.

Tottenham are very much in the race for the Premier League top four, and maybe, just maybe, the North London club should also be considered as title challengers.
