Glenn Hoddle admitted that he is ‘a little bit worried’ at Nuno Espirito Santo’s tactics at Tottenham, as he told Premier League Productions (30/10/21 at 7:50 pm).
The White Hart Lane legend was pretty honest in his assessment of Nuno and stated that Tottenham is a ship that has got ‘no rudder’.
Spurs were beaten in a pretty convincing fashion at the hands of Manchester United on Saturday evening.
There were a number of worrying issues with yesterday’s performance, from the lack of attacking intent, no shots on target and getting beat 3-0 by a team that was whacked 5-0 last week.
If Spurs fans felt that Jose Mourinho was defensive-minded in North London last season, well here is his little brother, without the trophies, producing a more boring brand of football.
It’s not pleasing Hoddle, who explained the issues he has with what his former side are doing out on that pitch.
“I am a little bit worried about the void of tactics against that system,” said Hoddle.
“He should know it more than anyone because he played it for more than two or three seasons for Wolves. And it worked really well.
“I’ve not seen him doing at Tottenham. He’s not played with a back three. Maybe it’s because he hasn’t got the players yet? But, at the end of the day, they have got to find a way of playing. It’s not just with the ball. But it’s without the ball.
“At the moment, they are a ship that has got no rudder. It’s just bobbing along in the sea. It doesn’t know where it’s going. And that’s a concern, for me.”

The issue Spurs fans had with Mourinho was the team sitting back at 1-0 or not producing 90-minute performances.
But, at least they scored goals and showed a lot more intent than what they are seeing now.
Added with that, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son were record-breakers last season, yet during this campaign, they are the shadow of those players.
It’s all a worry for those associated with the club, because they have gone from Champions League finalists, to the possibility that they will finish outside of the European places within three years of that defeat in Madrid.
