David Moyes has urged West Ham United midfielder, Declan Rice, to learn from Tottenham and Manchester United duo, Harry Kane and Harry Maguire, as he told his pre-match press conference.
The West Ham boss thinks Rice is an ‘improving young man’ and he should be looking at how Tottenham’s Kane works when he is on England duty with him.
Over the weekend, Rice came off the bench to help West Ham survive a scare when his side needed extra time to beat non-league side, Kidderminster Harriers, in the FA Cup.
As Rice proved at Euro 2020, along with Kane, he is probably one of the first names on Gareth Southgate’s teamsheet.
Whilst it’s obvious Kane is England’s number one striker, given what he has produced over a number of years, someone like Rice is steamrolling forward like there is no tomorrow.
Moyes thinks that the 23-year-old will be a ‘future England captain’, with Kane currently donning the armband now.
“As an individual, he is a really improving young man,” said Moyes. “He’s gaining a lot of experience and getting better.
“He learns an awful lot from Mark Noble. He should look, and I have said it many times, at Harry Kane and Harry Maguire. And all those senior players he is involved with at England.
“Then take as much from them as he can because, in the future, I think he has a great chance of going on to be a future England captain, so he should look at them.
“We are really pleased to have him and you would be right to say that he is an impressive young man.”

Whether it be in the Premier League, in Europe or on the international stage, nothing seems to be stopping Rice, at this moment in time.
The hard-hitting midfielder could argue that he is one of the best in England’s top-flight in his position and one of the most improved players over the last 18 months.
Whilst Rice always showcased the defensive side of his game, he is now running at the opposition like a highly-charged winger trying to make a name for himself.
Many feel that he now has the qualities to play in the Champions League, it’s just a case of West Ham hoping he reaches that level in their colours and not in somebody else’s.
