Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has given his view on Patrick Bamford being left out of the England squad.
Wright says that Bamford should be disappointed about being snubbed, but he claims that he should take the fact that he’s even in the conversation as a massive positive.
What’s been said?
Wright was giving his view on Bamford being left out of the England squad.
“You say Bamford, but one reason Bamford may not be so disappointed about it, obviously he will be disappointed, but he came up into this league and played very, very well, he’s unlucky to not have had a look, he should be disappointed, but I don’t think he was expecting it, and that is what he’s got to take as a positive,” Wright said.

Unlucky
Unlucky is the perfect word to describe Bamford’s England situation.
The Leeds striker was one of the top English goalscorers in the Premier League this term, but with Ollie Watkins and Dominic Calvert-Lewin having breakout seasons, he’s struggled to work his way into Southgate’s plans.
Should Bamford have been picked? That’s a question that’s bound to divide the majority of fans in the Premier League, but the fact that he didn’t even make the 33-man squad was nothing short of a travesty.
However, as Wright says, the fact that he’s being spoken about in these terms after just one season in the Premier League with Leeds is a massive positive, and he shouldn’t allow this snub to take away from what has been a brilliant season.
